The JSEC Kindness Crew
The JSEC Kindness Crew is a school based community run initiative our of Juanita Sanchez High School in Providence, Rhode Island where Rose Molina, LICSW serves as the School Social Worker. This initiative developed in 2016 as a way to build community and engage students. It has since grown to involve the Mayor of Providence, Jorge Elorza and collaboration with many schools throughout Providence with the one goal to SPREAD Kindness!
My name is Rose Molina
Rose Molina aka Miss Molina is the School Social Worker at JSEC and began the Kindness Initiative in 2016 with a small group of students who spent most of their day in her office. She feels as though this work has changed the lives of her students and provided great social emotional learning opportunities for them to take on as young adults. Partnering with local PPSD elementary schools and community organizations has also allowed for her students to become leaders among their school district.
Perishable Food Deliveries
The JSEC Kindness Crew & Team Rockstar Sports collaborated to bring perishable foods to Providence families experiencing barriers to obtaining resources, supports or assistance during the high peek time of the CoVid-19 pandemic. Initially starting in effort to assist families of Juanita Sanchez High School it quickly grew to support the entire Providence Public school district. School Social Workers, School Psychologists, School nurses, Guidance Counselor's and principals all are referring families in need. As well, local Providence Community Health Centers (PCHC) also refers families in need.
During the months of March and June 2020 we raised over $13,000 and delivered perishables to 125 providence school families.
